JAMAICA BLUE MOUNTAIN COFFEE is extremely limited in production and about 80% of each year's crop went to Japan for 10+ years. But with patience and dedication, JBMC USA is now (blessed to be) responsible for that 80% of the 100% Grade JBMC. As coffee connoisseurs, the owners' desire to share what is billed as the "Rolls-Royce of coffees" was strong after their travels to Japan and having a taste of it. They wanted to share it with everyone back home in the United States.
These beans are extremely labor-intensive to produce, handpicked from the mountain slopes by the local women. The high elevation, cool temperatures, and volcanic soil help result in a harvest that takes nearly 10 months, which is much longer than that of other coffee growing regions.
They are opening a roastery and cafe in Atlanta, GA and selling beans wholesale on their website starting early 2020. I was honored to be the creative director, strategist, designer, and illustrator for their new brand identity reveal in America.
